Ingredients

1 cup green bell pepper, sliced

1 cup red bell pepper, sliced

1 cup red onion, peeled and sliced

4 garlic cloves, peeled and minced, divided

2-4 long hot peppers (optional)

4 Italian sausage links

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pinch of black pepper

4 hoagie rolls, split

4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 1/2 cups TRUFF Pomodoro Pasta Sauce

8 slices deli-style provolone

2-3 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated

1-2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Italian Sausage and Pepper Hoagies

Who said casual meals can’t be exciting? This Italian-American classic just got a huge upgrade!

This sausage and pepper recipe starts off with a garlic-butter toasted hoagie roll and TRUFF’s Pomodoro Pasta Sauce. The flavor combination of the garlicky butter, savory truffles, and spice blend makes for the perfect sandwich base. Top with Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, garlic, provolone, and parmesan cheese for the ideal meal!

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with foil.
  2. Place peppers, onion, garlic, hot peppers, and sausage links on the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the sausages are cooked through.
  4. Meanwhile, place the split hoagie rolls on another baking sheet.
  5. Spread the rolls with butter and sprinkle with the remaining garlic.
  6. Place the rolls in the oven and bake for 3-5 minutes or until lightly toasted.
  7. Spoon TRUFF Pomodoro Pasta Sauce over the toasted rolls.
  8. Once the sausages have cooked, divide them between the toasted rolls.
  9. Top the rolls with the roasted veggies, provolone, and parmesan.
    1. Return to the oven and toast just until the cheese has melted.
    2. Garnish with parsley before serving.
